You can migrate existing SharePoint Discussion Board lists to Discussion Board Plus for SharePoint using the Discussion Board Plus Migration Tool, included with the Discussion Board Plus for SharePoint Setup program. The Migration Tool allows you to migrate all existing discussion board topics and posts to a Discussion Board Plus list so you can take advantage of features like Sticky, Lock Topic, Suggest as Answer and Verify Answer.
Install this component on one of the servers in the SharePoint farm running the Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application service. Refer to System Settings in SharePoint Central Administration for a list of servers running this service.
IMPORTANT: The installation account must be a member of the local server Administrators group, have the db_owner role for the SharePoint configuration database, and be a site collection administrator for each site collection where the product will be available. Site collection administrator permission is required to activate the site collection feature.

This can be run as the final installation step after the solutions are deployed to the selected web applications. If automatic activation features are not selected in the required installation steps, users can enter site collection URL(s) to activate all required features of Discussion Board Plus. This step does not install any new components. It simply finds, deactivates, then reactivates all required Discussion Board Plus specific features for the site collection(s).
