Migrating the Filters Collection from SharePoint 2007 to SharePoint 2010

Be sure you have at least the Minimum SharePoint 2007 Product Release (shown in the table below) installed before migrating. If not, upgrade your Bamboo product release before migrating. For more information, see Upgrading your Bamboo Web Part. Also, the target SharePoint 2010 farm requires at least the Minimum SharePoint 2010 product release shown.

Icon-Warning IMPORTANT: When migrating from SharePoint 2007 to SharePoint 2010, you MUST select the option to change existing SharePoint sites to use the new user experience. Your Bamboo products will not perform as expected with the old look and feel.

In-Place Upgrade
Issues The following Filters Collection Web Parts migrate without any errors or additional steps required: Choice Filter, Date Filter, and Text Filter. However, the following web parts have issues:

  • Bamboo Current User Filter Web Part has 2 modes:
    1. Current User Name migrates without any errors or additional steps required.
    2. SharePoint Profile Value for Current User is not supported in SharePoint 2010 regardless of the upgrade method.
  • Bamboo List Filter Web Part displays the error

    Unexpected Web Part Error

    if the option Select Filter Values is selected.

Resolution To resolve the error with Bamboo List Filter Web Part, delete the existing Bamboo List Filter Web Part instance and add a new instance to the page.
