Microsoft ended mainstream support for SharePoint 2007 in October 2012. See Microsoft’s Lifecycle Support Policy.
At that time, Bamboo stopped enhancements to our SharePoint 2007 product line, but continues to provide support and bug fixes to customers with active support contracts until October 2017. Previously purchased licenses will continue to function after October 2017, but support for these products will end, and no additional bug fixes will be provided beyond that time. Bamboo plans to cease selling new licenses and annual support contacts for its SharePoint 2007 products in October 2016 to ensure customers will be eligible to receive support for at least one year after purchase.

At that time, we will stop any enhancements for our SharePoint 2010 product line but will continue to provide support and bug fixes for our SharePoint 2010 products to customers with active support contracts until October 2020. Previously purchased licenses will continue to function after October 2020, but support for these products will end, and no additional bug fixes will be provided beyond that time. Bamboo plans to cease selling new licenses and annual support contacts for its SharePoint 2010 products in October 2019 to ensure customers will be eligible to receive support for at least one year after purchase.

Send Message Overview

FromList.pngThe Send Message feature can be accessed through any of the following methods.

  • Select the Send Message icon in the Send Message column if it has been added to the list or library.
  • Select the Send Message icon in the item’s ribbon.
  • Select the Send Message option from the item’s context menu (as shown here).

When Send Messageis opened for an item, a dialog window opens as shown below:

  1. The From field (if available) allows users to define the “From” address of the message.

NOTE: This option is only available if the Site Administrator has explicitly enabled it.

  1. The To field allows users to enter the users/groups that will receive the message. There may be some default names displayed based on the settings for the list. The user sending the message can edit this content.

  2. The Subject field is populated with the item name by default. The user sending the message can edit this content.

  3. The Body field contains a hyperlink to the item. The user sending the message can edit this content.

InSettingsPage.pngThe Send Message settings area allows list administrators to define the default recipients of the message, as well as view version information for the product. The settings can be found under List or Library Settings > General Settings >Bamboo Send Message.

SendToMessgeSettings.pngThere a few options you can set to ensure your message settings default the way you anticipate they should.

Step Action Description
1. Send Message Recipient

The recipient can be one of three choices:

  • User or users listed in a column:
  • Specific user or group:
  • Specific email addresses:
2. The next selection varies depending on your choices made previously.

Send to specific user(s) or group(s)

With this selection, a text box appears so that you can enter one or more SharePoint user or users/group or groups to receive the message.

NOTE: These addresses need to be in SharePoint.

Send to the user(s) listed in a column

The columns that are available for selecting users appear.

NOTE: Only columns which are designated as “People and Group” content types are available for selection.

Send to specific email address(es)

The text box appears for you to fill in the addresses of the recipients; they do not have to be internal addresses as long as they resolve to a recognizable address.

Separate each recipient’s address with a comma or a semicolon.
3. About Bamboo Send Message If you ever need to check which version of the product you are using, the interface provides a quick link to see the Bamboo product version.
